The NIKKOR Z 35mm f/1.2 S combines a versatile 35mm wide-standard focal length with an f/1.2 maximum aperture, one of the fastest apertures in Nikon's S-Line. On Nikon Z mount cameras, that means exceptionally shallow depth of field and strong low-light performance at a focal length suited to environmental portraits, street and documentary work.
The optical formula uses 17 elements in 15 groups, including 3 ED glass elements and 3 aspherical elements to control aberrations and maintain sharpness even at f/1.2. Nano Crystal Coat and Arneo Coat work together to reduce ghosting and flare, including from light sources near the edge of the frame.
An 11-blade diaphragm helps produce smooth, rounded background blur when shooting wide open, a key part of the S-Line's rendering signature at fast apertures.
